38-FT BROOM REFIT & EXTENSION

A SENTIMENTAL RESTOMOD

Not every project is defined by its deadline. This one was defined by its meaning.

This vintage British-built Broom 38 came to the studio carrying something no specification sheet could capture — it had belonged to the owner's father. The brief was never about speed or budget. It was about getting it right, honoring what the vessel represented, and returning it to the water in a form that would do justice to the memories attached to it. That kind of trust is not taken lightly.

The scope of work was extensive. The yacht was stripped back to its original fiberglass structure, and every system was reimagined from the ground up. Nothing was patched or approximated — if it existed before, it was reconsidered. The hard top and upper helm are entirely new, designed to feel purposeful and cohesive rather than grafted on. The hull was lengthened by two feet and reshaped to improve her performance characteristics, giving the vessel a more confident presence on the water without compromising the classic proportions that define a Broom.

Throughout the process the guiding question was always the same: does this respect the character of the original? The goal was never to reinvent the boat, but to elevate it — to bring everything around it up to the standard that the vessel's history deserved.

It has been one of the most personally rewarding collaborations to date. The client's commitment to doing this properly, and his willingness to take the time to get every decision right, made it a genuinely exceptional project to be part of.
